The SPE International CCUS Conference and Exhibition positions carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) as a fully engineered subsurface system—spanning storage site development, injection operations, well integrity, and monitoring, measurement, and verification (MMV). Grounded in real case histories, standards-driven workflows, and decision-grade subsurface data, the conference provides a practical and technical platform for advancing CCUS deployment.
This two-day event will feature a combination of strategic panel sessions curated by the Executive Committee, alongside technical and ePoster sessions developed by the Programme Committee, complemented by an industry exhibition. Together, these elements are designed to foster both high-level dialogue and in-depth technical exchange. Read More

The SPE CCUS Series brings together technical knowledge, industry expertise, and global collaboration to support the responsible development of carbon capture, utilisation, and storage technologies as part of the energy transition.

I invite you to join us for the first edition of the SPE International CCUS Conference and Exhibition in The Hague, Netherlands. In collaboration with leading CCUS industry bodies such as GCCS, IEAGHG, and IOGP, we aim to facilitate advanced dialogues on CCUS policy, technology choices, engineering, and industry governance. Join our leadership community and contribute to delivering an effective and affordable CCUS industry, urgently needed for material decarbonisation.
-
This conference reflects the full complexity and opportunity within CCUS bringing together subsurface, technology, policy, and emerging utilisation pathways into one cohesive platform. More than just a learning forum, it enables meaningful cross-disciplinary dialogue focused on real-world challenges, from scaling projects and managing risks to navigating regulations and improving economic viability.

Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage is a growth business (average ~10% per year since 2016). CCUS enables de-carbonisation without de-industrialisation, protecting and creating new jobs. Major capital projects are now well underway across the globe: in gas processing, power generation, cement and other industries, onshore & offshore, in saline aquifers and depleted hydrocarbon fields, in sandstones, carbonates and reactive formations. Learning and collaboration is essential to manage risks and reduce costs, as together we explore technical and commercial opportunities, and build out a new industry.

As 2026-2027 Chair of the SPE CCUS Technical Section, I strongly encourage professionals across the energy transition ecosystem to attend the 2027 SPE International CCUS Conference and Exhibition. What distinguishes this event is its engineering-first perspective on CCUS. The program addresses CCUS as a fully integrated system—covering storage site development, injection operations, well integrity, facilities, and monitoring, measurement, and verification (MMV)—all anchored in real case histories. This ensures that discussions move beyond ambition to execution, performance, and assurance, which are critical to scaling CCUS commercially. From the perspective of the SPE CCUS Technical Section, this conference plays a vital role in our mission to connect global expertise, accelerate learning from operational experience, and promote standards-driven deployment. The energy transition demands rapid scaling of CCUS, and with that comes a critical need to share lessons learned, de-risk projects, and innovate across the full value chain. Attending this event is also an investment in the broader professional CCUS community. As participation directly supports advance knowledge sharing, professional development, and a global CCUS dialogue. In summary, if you are serious about delivering CCUS projects that are safe, reliable, and economically viable, this conference is essential. I look forward to seeing you in The Hague as we collectively shape the next phase of CCUS deployment.

CCUS is more than C and S. The U may turn CO2 into a useful component in a much-needed securing of our energy, while solving a problem. Much creative thinking along with practical work is required to meet both goals in a way which is also economically sustainable. Therefore, this conference bridges a wide span of topics within the World of CCUS. Attend to hear about challenges and opportunities, and most likely contribute by discussing with peers what is on your mind.

CCS is moving rapidly from ambition to implementation. To make that transition successful, we need to look beyond individual projects and build a well-coordinated system across the entire value chain. This requires strong collaboration between industry, infrastructure developers, policymakers and technical experts. The SPE International CCUS Conference and Exhibition brings these different perspectives together, offering a valuable opportunity to exchange practical experiences, discuss shared challenges and build the partnerships needed to accelerate safe and effective CCS deployment at scale. The technology is available. The real challenge is bringing all parts of the value chain together. Let’s take on that challenge together. I look forward to welcoming you to The Hague.
