As the volume of downhole diagnostic data continues to increase, operators in unconventional plays leverage collective learnings to optimize completions and develop resources in the most efficient manner possible. The economic impact of being able to effectively complete horizontal wells with fewer stages and less time overall is significant, but it can also create a tendency to overprioritize costs while underprioritizing well productivity. As an industry, it’s imperative that we use every resource at our disposal to strike a balance between these competing interests. To this end, this session will focus on ever-evolving completion trends across basins such as limited entry design, enhanced perforating techniques, improvements in plug technology, applications of diverter, simultaneous fracturing operations, and others.
