About

Positioning the industry for a resilient, low-carbon future through innovation in unconventional resource development.

Expanding exploration and appraisal in Australia’s Beetaloo Basin and Taroom Trough regions, China’s continued investment in shale, and Southeast Asia’s growing emphasis on cleaner energy and stronger Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance are putting pressure on developing all resources, especially unconventional resources.  This workshop aims to provide a vital platform to examine the technical and economic challenges of emerging resources and position the industry for a more resilient, low-carbon future.

Attendees will explore current trends, emerging technologies, and strategies shaping the future of unconventional resource management and production across Asia Pacific, within the broader context of accelerating global and regional efforts toward sustainability and decarbonisation. Key themes include maintaining the social license to operate, advancing produced water management, and driving environmental stewardship amid increasing regulatory scrutiny and community expectations.

The programme will also highlight sustainable emissions reduction strategies—such as carbon capture, field electrification, and real-time monitoring—as well as digital and data-driven innovations in field development, reservoir appraisal, and coal seam gas (CSG) production.
