About

This joint SPE/ARMA workshop on subsurface storage will facilitate a comprehensive discussion among experts in the areas of geoscience, geomechanics, reservoir, completions, and production engineering, with a focus on the advancement and integration of geological storage applications and challenges.

Widely studied areas, such as underground gas storage, carbon sequestration, acid gas injection, and waste/wastewater disposal, are increasingly joined by emerging efforts such as hydrogen storage/production, subsurface storage of critical minerals and rare earth elements, and a range of energy storage solutions, such as compressed air, pumped subsurface hydro-storage, and hybrid geothermal-storage solutions. Together, these technologies will provide significant support for future energy developments.

These technologies also share many common challenges and lessons learned. This SPE/ARMA workshop will focus on sharing experiences across these storage-related fields in a manner that synthesizes subsurface characterization, geomechanics, and geological and engineering evaluations.

To stimulate the exchange of critical learnings as well as provide cross-discipline discussions, the workshop’s Program Committee and invited speakers have been drawn from a balance of industry, national laboratories, federal funding agencies, and academia. The exchange of ideas among attendees and presenters will be maximized through brief technical presentations followed by extended participant Q&A periods.

COUNTDOWN TO THE EVENT!

ATTENDING THIS WORKSHOP SUPPORTS THE E&P INDUSTRY

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a not-for-profit organization. Income from this event will be invested back into SPE to support many other Society programs.

When you attend an SPE event, you help provide even more opportunities for industry professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence. Scholarships, certification, the Distinguished Lecturer program, and SPE’s energy education program Energy4me® are just a few examples of programs supported by SPE.
