Fiber optic sensing in-well for permanent subsea applications is the new frontier. Case studies and field trials are now becoming reality providing data for different applications as vertical seismic profile, flow profile, well integrity and well stimulation to improve reservoir characterization and production optimization. This shows the potential of the fiber optic sensing to face uncertainties and support decision making of reservoir management through the life-of-the-field.
Besides this potential, there are many interfaces to be handled as subsea infrastructure with fiber optic, ITC prepared for high amount of data which require planning ahead of time, well design considering fiber optic sensing, and interpretation algorithms tunned for the applications. Only when interpretation confidence in the subsea scenario become a reality, we will scale up the technology adoption.
This workshop is aiming to bring light on the limitations of the subsea infrastructure, topside interfaces, measurement quality and interpretation & modeling for integrity, seismic, flow profiling and well stimulation application. Discussion of possible solutions, exchange experiences, and next steps.
