As the energy industry strives to meet growing global energy demand while advancing decarbonisation goals, Improved and Enhanced Oil Recovery (IOR/EOR) technologies are emerging as critical enablers for maximising recovery from existing assets while reducing the carbon intensity of hydrocarbon production. This SPE Workshop brings together industry leaders, researchers, operators, technology providers, and decision-makers to explore innovative strategies, practical experiences, and breakthrough technologies that are transforming the future of hydrocarbon recovery.
The workshop will provide a collaborative platform to discuss the latest developments in chemical, gas, and thermal EOR, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), conformance improvement technologies, digital solutions, and emerging applications in unconventional reservoirs. Through a combination of strategic panel discussions and technical sessions, participants will examine how advanced recovery methods can unlock additional reserves, improve production efficiency, optimize resource utilisation, and contribute to lower-carbon operations. Particular emphasis will be placed on lessons learned from field implementations, technology deployment challenges, economic considerations, and pathways to accelerate large-scale adoption.
Designed to foster open dialogue and knowledge exchange, the workshop will address the evolving role of IOR/EOR in supporting energy security, enhancing asset value, and enabling more sustainable oil production. Participants will gain insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating advanced recovery technologies into the current energy landscape and will collaborate on identifying practical solutions that balance technical performance, economic value, and environmental stewardship. The outcome will be a shared vision for advancing recovery while supporting the industry's transition toward a lower-carbon future.
