While underground injection and storage of CO2 has been around for decades, it is now gaining significant momentum around the globe.

Although many aspects of drilling and completing CO2 injection wells are similar to drilling oil and gas wells, there are some unique considerations with regards to cementing and well integrity.

This workshop will focus on several key topics including:

• The risks of leakage through legacy wells
• Methods for remediation and re-abandonment of legacy wells
• The potential impact of CO2 alteration of Portland cement
• The effects of extreme thermal cycling on cement sheath integrity
• Challenges cementing long columns to surface
• Reliable evaluation of cement quality 
• Evolving regulatory framework
