Across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, there remains significant interest in improving the economic viability of sandstone developments, particularly where stimulation can unlock stranded resources, accelerate production or increase recovery from existing infrastructure. Sandstone reservoirs represent a broad range of stimulation challenges, from conventional moderate-permeability reservoirs through to tight gas and deeply buried low-permeability formations.
This session will examine recent developments in the stimulation of sandstone reservoirs, both onshore and offshore, with a strong emphasis on field experience and case studies from across the region. Topics will include fracture design, completion strategy, operational challenges and the economic considerations that determine whether stimulation adds value.
The session will also explore how recent experience, improved modelling and advances in execution practices can be used to extend the technical and economic limits of sandstone reservoir stimulation.

Carbonate reservoirs represent some of the most important hydrocarbon resources across the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Europe, while also presenting a unique set of stimulation challenges due to their heterogeneous nature, complex natural fracture systems and wide variation in permeability and mechanical properties.
Both acid stimulation and propped hydraulic fracturing continue to play an important role in improving productivity and recovery from carbonate reservoirs across the region.
This session will review field experience from Europe, the Middle East and Africa and examine how operators select the most appropriate stimulation strategy for different geological, completion and production conditions.
Case studies may include acid fracturing, matrix acidizing, propped fracturing, stimulation of horizontal wells, re-stimulation and mature-field applications. Particular emphasis will be placed on treatment design, operational execution, reservoir response and post-stimulation well performance.

Increasingly, stimulation is being applied to resources that were previously considered too technically difficult or uneconomic to develop. Across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, these include deeper and tighter reservoirs, HPHT environments, hard-rock formations, subsea wells, highly depleted reservoirs and other technically challenging applications.
Such environments test the limits of current stimulation technology, equipment, materials, modelling and operational capability.
This session will showcase case studies from challenging stimulation environments across the region and examine how operators and service companies are adapting technology and execution practices to push the boundaries of what is technically and economically achievable.

Completion design is one of the key enablers for efficient and economic stimulation, particularly in offshore developments and high-cost wells where rig time, intervention requirements and operational complexity can dominate project economics.
Across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, a wide range of completion technologies is now being applied to enable efficient multi-zone and multi-stage stimulation in both conventional and tight reservoirs.
This session will focus on case studies demonstrating how completion design can improve stimulation efficiency, reliability and overall well economics. Topics may include open-hole and cemented completions, frac sleeves, plug-and-perforate systems, dissolvable technology, diversion techniques, limited-entry concepts and other methods of achieving effective zonal isolation and stimulation placement. The session will also consider how completion decisions made early in the well design process influence stimulation flexibility and long-term well performance.

Stimulation can create value well beyond traditional tight-reservoir developments. Across mature and developing fields in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, hydraulic fracturing and other stimulation techniques can accelerate production, improve ultimate recovery, reduce the number of required wells or provide access to reserves that would otherwise remain uneconomic.
This session will examine applications where stimulation has been used to improve overall field and project economics in both new developments and mature assets.
Case studies may include stimulation of moderate-permeability reservoirs, redevelopment of mature fields, access to bypassed reserves, re-stimulation of existing wells and applications where stimulation has enabled infrastructure-led or marginal-field developments.
The emphasis will be on demonstrating how stimulation contributes to recovery, production acceleration and value creation at the field-development level.

Advances in materials, equipment, diagnostics and treatment design continue to expand the range of stimulation applications available to the industry.
Operators are increasingly looking for technologies that can improve stimulation performance, reduce operational risk, lower environmental impact and improve project economics under a wide range of reservoir and operating conditions.
This session will focus on emerging technologies and recent field applications that have the potential to materially improve stimulation performance.
Topics may include new fluid systems, proppants, degradable materials, diversion technologies, electric fracturing equipment, real-time diagnostics, data-driven optimisation, automation and novel pumping or completion concepts.
The session will particularly encourage case studies that demonstrate measurable operational or production improvements rather than technology development alone.
