Their design has always been challenged by uncertainties in fluid properties and flow patterns. Solids, waxes, asphaltenes, and flow assurance chemicals as well as piping components such as reducers and valves can also modify the separation behavior.
In addition, space and weight limitations sometimes conflict with widely varying flowrate conditions. And now, separation is being challenged to further reduce carbon footprint and meet more stringent environmental regulations. Interfacing with the different engineering disciplines early in the design phase is key to a properly designed separation system.
This workshop aspires to be an interactive and collaborative effort to:
- Share state of the art separator design and troubleshooting methods
- Develop future separation needs and gap statements
- Propose a forward path to close the gaps
