Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The new version of EuropEC is entering its third edition: after Torino in 2024 and Vienna in 2025, EuropEC has grown from an experiment into SPE’s flagship stage for Europe.
In 2025 SPE has adopted a classification of its extended technical perimeter into three main groups of activities: Our Core work on sustainable Oil & Gas Exploration & Production ; all activities related to Low Carbon, including the reduction of our emissions and negative emissions with CCUS; and then the part of New Energy, mainly focused on subsurface, where our historic know-how remains very relevant. EuropEC is all about that: Core, Low Carbon and New Energy.
And then there is the location: in 2026 we will be in Istanbul. This will be different, again. Not only because of its bridges between continents, but because it brings the whole of Europe closer - North and South, East and West - with new neighbours from the Caspian, Mediterranean, and the Middle East joining the conversation. Offshore may have a strong voice this year, but still it is part of a bigger chorus: subsurface and operations, old fields and new energies, hydrocarbons and hydrogen, Geothermal, data and policy.
Expect debate. Expect friction. Expect fresh ideas. But above all, expect Europe’s energy community - in its full diversity - to show up, speak up, and push forward together.
