In the subsea oil and gas industry, API has a suite of subsea specifications, standards and recommended practices that provide performance requirements and best practices.

One unique aspect to this suite of standards is the inclusion of specialized intervention tools that has grown from drilling vessel completion workover risers, to several sophisticated light well intervention systems. Shadowing well intervention’s technical development, the API suite of 17G standards have morphed from a single recommended practice of 30 years ago, to a suite of seven standards and recommended practices.

This presentation will highlight some of the evolutionary changes coming with the advent of the fourth edition of standard 17G and its supporting group of recommended practices.
