MPD has been proven to add significant value to challenging wells, reducing NPT and allowing wells to reach TD where conventional practices would have not allowed. Companies are increasingly using MPD for the other operations in the well, not just for drilling. This increases the utilisation of the equipment, and helps the rig crew to maintain proficiency in all MPD related operational procedures and tasks. In the end, MPD becomes the norm instead of the exception.
