Panel Session: Gas Field Development Challenges in Changing Energy Landscape
Session Moderators: Chander Sekhar Singh, PETRONAS; Beryl Audrey, SLB
With the changing energy landscape, natural gas is facing competition from renewables as a clean energy source but will still be the mainstay for several years to come. To remain a sustainable source of energy, gas development and production is faced with several challenges – from handling contaminants and GHG emissions, to developing frontier and marginal fields. With the growing demand for gas, depleting resources and challenging gas plays such as tight gas, unconventional, marginal, stranded/frontier and high contaminant fields need to be developed. In addition to cost-effective technology and innovative concepts, suitable regulation with attractive terms and conditions is critical to monetising such gas fields to meet the ever-growing energy demand.
