AI – The Coming Multi-Car Collision
When OpenAI unveiled its new ChatGPT interface, it ushered in a new era of computing, creating a tectonic shift in the ways we gather information. From getting assistance writing computer code, speeding up work processes, and even building resumes and cover letters, ChatGPT received swift adoption from millions of people with the potential to streamline thousands of work processes. But what about the dark side of AI? Experts warn of massive job dislocation, of certain fields of employment being phased out causing massive job losses. How is this bearing out in reality today? Is genAI content really appreciated? What are the business ethics and security considerations? How will this affect government policies? And what about the massive resources (water and electricity) required to enable the transition to mass AI? Will all go smoothly, or will the trifecta of employment, government, and resource availability end up on a collision course?
