Workshop Guidelines

Workshops maximize the exchange of ideas among attendees and presenters through brief technical presentations followed by extended Q&A periods. Focused topics attract an informed audience eager to discuss issues critical to advancing both technology and best practices.

Many of the presentations are in the form of case studies, highlighting engineering achievements and lessons learned. In order to stimulate frank discussion, no proceedings are published and members of the press are not invited to attend.

Format and Program

  • Workshops typically span two (2) days with highly focused topics to provide attendees with practical information on the latest applications of relevant technology, illustrated with field case studies and examples.
  • Each day will consist of a morning and an afternoon technical session and may include a scheduled evening session.
  • The technical program is planned and developed by the Workshop Program Committee, which comprises an international group of 12 to 15 subject matter experts. The program committee is led by two Co-Chairs.

Attendance

  • All attendees (including committee members and speakers/facilitators/discussion leaders) are required to register for the workshop at accorded registration rates established by SPE. Such fee will cover attendance at all sessions, workshop program, coffee breaks, networking luncheons and dinner (as indicated in the program), Continuing Education Units (CEU) certification, and post-workshop pack.
  • The Chairs and members of the Workshop Program Committee, and facilitators/speakers/discussion leaders, serve as volunteers in their work for the SPE event. SPE policy prohibits the paying of any SPE honorarium, or any travel or lodging expenses connected with committee work and/or speaking at the event.

Commercialism

  • SPE has a stated policy against use of commercial trade names, company names, or language that is commercial in tone in the abstract and presentation title, text or slides. Use of such terms will result in careful scrutiny by the Program Committee in evaluating abstracts and presentation materials.
