Session Descriptions

Keynote: The Importance of Innovation During a Time of Disruptive Change in the E&P Industry

The global E&P industry is undergoing disruptive change as a result of the tidal wave of oil and natural gas production coming from US unconventional reservoirs and the global revolution underway in data analytics and other digital technologies. These forces have placed sustained downward pressure on hydrocarbon prices. Companies have therefore had to adjust their approach to innovation, accelerating the pace and scale at which business improvements are made. This talk will provide an overview of the forces causing disruption and describe how novel integrated solutions provide hope for weathering the storm.

Speaker: Greg Leveille, Chief Technology Officer, ConocoPhillips

01 Intervention Solutions

This session presents a broad range of well intervention and production enhancement challenges and solutions. It showcases innovative ways to solve the complex issues our industry faces as well as the lessons learned along the process. These intervention solutions will be of use in other locations facing similar issues.

02 Data Enhanced Interventions and Diagnostics

Historical and new means of gathering subsurface and equipment data can be used to improve well interventions in each stage of a job, from candidate selection through operational execution and post-job analysis. This session examines the benefits of increased data collection and enhanced interpretation models to use key information in real-time during operations to deliver better intervention outcomes and reduce operational risks.

03 Coiled Tubing and Pipe Development, Applications, and Solutions

As an Industry, we are continually being challenged to increase reliability, deliver successful interventions, and to innovate. This session will focus on latest developments to products and services that will deliver safe and successful intervention operations.

04 Latest Developments in Equipment, Tools, Fluids, and Materials for Interventions

With an O&G industry going through a significant transformation, well intervention technologies are becoming more relevant than ever to address production impairments, challenging innovation, and introducing more complexity to meet industry requirements. This session presents new tools and solutions aiming at generating new efficiencies by leveraging surface and downhole data in real time, whether on land or offshore. It also provides avenues to improve the economics and effectiveness of subsea operations, as well as introduces new advancements for the diagnostics of well integrity issues.

05 Wireline Developments, Applications, and Solutions

This informative session will incorporate a range of papers focused on the operator challenges faced and systems and solutions provided, incorporating wireline and wireline deployed technologies. The session will present a diverse range of technologies, case histories, and well issues demonstrating how the application of various wireline methodologies can enable successful delivery of downhole, live well intervention objectives.

06 Improving Operational Efficiency, HSE, and Well Control

In the current climate where wellwork activity is vital to deliver cash to the business, operational effectiveness and efficiency while maintaining high HSE standards is parament. The necessary advancement of new technology, detailed analysis of job data, and sound operational practices are critical to achieving this. This session will focus on unique solutions successfully implemented through discussions utilizing various intervention methods to improve operational efficiency.

07 Horizontal and ERD Solutions

Challenging new projects are reaching the limits of existing coiled tubing metallurgy and equipment, requiring that innovative techniques be utilized to achieve results. The development of new tools and planning techniques is allowing coiled tubing drilling to successfully complete complex projects.

08 Interventions Solutions in Challenging Environments

Papers presented in this session highlight outstanding well interventions performed in difficult environments. All face interesting challenges related to geographic location, working environment, cost, and efficiency. This session will cover innovative approaches, operational challenges, alternative deployment, and a breadth of work environments.
