Coil Tubing

Message from the Chairpersons

We are glad to invite you to join us at The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Intervention and Coiled Tubing Association (ICoTA) 2027 Well Intervention Conference and Exhibition taking place from 23-24 March 2027 in The Woodlands, Texas, USA.

In today’s dynamic energy industry, well intervention has become a critical discipline for restoring production, regaining well access, extending asset life, and improving recovery. Services such as slickline, coiled tubing, wireline, workover rigs, snubbing, downhole tools, and fluid systems provide efficient and flexible methods to intervene in wells, forming a crucial part of the energy generation continuum.

Given the cost efficiency of generating incremental production, along with the reduced CO₂ footprint associated with utilizing existing infrastructure, intervention has become a vital tool for operators seeking to maximize recovery from their asset base. Service companies and operators continue to work in close partnership to improve operations, address technical challenges, and develop new technologies for complex wells, while also enabling knowledge transfer to emerging energy applications such as geothermal.

As we shape the 2027 program, we are placing a renewed emphasis on the unique dynamics of the North America land market, where coiled tubing plays a pivotal role in enabling high-efficiency, high-frequency intervention operations. This environment is driving rapid innovation in areas such as re-fracturing, plug milling efficiency, real-time operations, electrification, and automation. Increasing complexity and longer lateral sections are pushing operational and manufacturing boundaries, reshaping how interventions are executed at scale.

We are particularly interested in contributions that demonstrate measurable impact in these high-intensity operating environments, including solutions that improve asset recovery, extend well life, and enhance operational sustainability without compromising economic performance. We strongly believe that the technologies and innovative solutions being deployed in North America today are shaping the future of well interventions in international markets.

Engage and collaborate with industry leaders from across North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia as they present technical papers and share insights into the performance and innovation of well intervention techniques. By attending and contributing to this conference, you will gain insight into current and emerging industry trends and solutions relevant to your operational environment, while networking with forward-thinking professionals. The conference will cover a broad spectrum of subjects, including technology deployment, offshore and onshore operations, extended-reach wells, HSE improvements, energy transition initiatives, and the integration of data science to enhance intervention performance.

Our well intervention community is rich with experience, innovation, and practical solutions developed across different regions. We encourage operators, service companies, and technology developers from around the world to contribute their latest field experiences and innovations. Submit your abstract by 1 September 2026 and help shape the future of well intervention.

We look forward to welcoming you to this influential and dynamic event.
