Hamoud A. Al Shammari was appointed vice president of Northern Area Drilling and Workover Operations, effective December 1, 2023, after serving as director of Offshore Drilling since July 2017. Prior to this appointment, Al Shammari served as manager of Gas Drilling Department since August 2014.

Al Shammari joined the company in August 1989 as a petroleum engineer, after completing his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 1989.

Al Shammari served in a variety of positions at Drilling and Workover, including Drilling and Workover Engineering, Ras Tanura Production, Deep Drilling Engineering, and Drilling Operations before being named a superintendent for Onshore Development Drilling for Southern Area Oil Drilling in April 2003. After two years as superintendent for Offshore Drilling Division, starting in 2007, Al Shammari was named superintendent for Onshore Gas Exploration Drilling in 2009. In March 2011, Al Shammari was named superintendent for Critical Drilling operations with Exploration Drilling Department, which led to his elevation to manager of Exploration Drilling Department, then Gas Drilling Department, a position he held until July 2017, when he was named manager of Offshore Drilling.

Al Shammari held various leadership positions within the Drilling and Workover Organization, both in Engineering as well as Operations, and was involved in the development of major onshore and offshore increments both for the oil and gas programs, as well as the Northwest and Red Sea exploration drilling program, and the unprecedented offshore expansions.

Al Shammari is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He served as the Chairman for Northern Arabia Gulf Chapter (NAGC) of International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) from 2014 to 2019.

Al Shammari has completed a number of leadership courses, including the Manager Level Assessment Center, the Saudi Aramco Management Development Seminar, the Saudi Aramco Leadership Forum, the Directors Legal GI Training course, Managerial Accounting, Developing High Potentials Workshop, and the BAP Building Accounting, Finance and Risk Management Capability Program.
