S08 New Solutions for New Challenges

Thursday, 5 December
Van Horne A
Technical and Invited Presenter
This session will explore the use of new tools, such as Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and advanced numerical simulations, to provide practical solutions for day-to-day operational management. Strathcona will present their findings on casing deformation and explain how geomechanical modeling helps identify critical failure zones. Precise Downhole Solutions will demonstrate how DAS signals can be used to mitigate Surface Casing Vent Flow (SCVF). Finally, CNOOC will share the critical strategies employed to bring wells back into production after long-term shutdowns.
