Herman is president at Ryder Scott Company. He has bachelor’s (87) and master’s (89) degrees in petroleum engineering from the university of tulsa. Herman is currently serving as the chair of the SPE’s chair of the SPE’s Oil and Gas Reserves Committee (OGRC) and shares the chair of the SPE‐PRMS update sub‐committee.

Herman joined Ryder Scott Company after nearly a decade at Exxon corporation where he specialized in research applications, reservoir engineering and reservoir simulation. He pioneered and demonstrated the value of early 3D reservoir visualization tools for reservoir simulation.

Since joining Ryder Scott in 1997, he has focused on management consulting services to provide corporate solutions for Reservoir Engineering and Reserves and Resources Management and reporting. He has recently lead the effort to provide sustainable energy consulting services, including carbon capture, blue and green hydrogen, geothermal, lithium and ghg emissions evaluations.
