Welcome to the 2027 European Well Integrity Symposium.

Well integrity continues to evolve as our industry faces new challenges and opportunities. Across Europe and beyond, operators are managing aging assets, extending field life, developing new wells, planning abandonment campaigns, and exploring opportunities for well repurposing in support of the energy transition.

This year’s symposium adopts a lifecycle perspective, recognising that well integrity is shaped by decisions made throughout the entire journey of a well, from design and construction through operations, intervention, abandonment and potential reuse.

Our goal is to provide a forum for sharing experiences, lessons learned, emerging technologies and practical solutions that support safe, sustainable and risk-informed well management. We hope the discussions, technical presentations and networking opportunities will encourage collaboration across disciplines and contribute to the continued advancement of our industry.

On behalf of the organising committee, we look forward to welcoming you to the symposium.

Alongside my co-chair, Mayra Aquino, I am delighted to invite you to our inaugural SPE Well Integrity Symposium—an event designed to inspire, connect, and elevate our community. Building on the strong legacy of past workshops that have helped shape our industry and its evolving standards, this edition promises to be truly bigger, bolder, and more engaging than ever before.

Guided by your feedback, we have reimagined the experience to create more space for meaningful conversations, deeper connections, and hands-on discovery of innovative technologies and services showcased throughout the exhibits.

We are particularly eager to hear authentic voices—real-life cases, lived experiences, and sometimes hard lessons learned along the way. We understand the sensitivity of certain insights, and you are welcome to share them in a way that respects confidentiality (no compulsory public release).

Our discussions will span the full lifecycle of Well Integrity, from “cradle to grave”, addressing both enduring fundamentals and emerging challenges. Particular attention will be given to managing aging assets under constrained budgets, alongside key topics such as surveillance, risk management, remedial strategies, and regulatory frameworks.

As our world continues to evolve, so too do the challenges we face. This symposium will offer a space to reflect, anticipate, and collectively shape the path forward.

We very much look forward to welcoming you.
