Oscar S. Mora is a Global Unconventional Reservoir Engineering Advisor at ConocoPhillips, bringing 29 years of oil and gas experience across facilities, production and reservoir engineering in the Americas and international assets.

He began his career with Lagoven and PDVSA in Venezuela, coordinating shallow-water operations and optimizing wells, gathering systems and surface facilities, then advised U.S. tight-gas operators as a managing petroleum engineering consultant with Halliburton. He joined ConocoPhillips in 2008 on the initial Eagle Ford project as an exploration and development reservoir engineer.

Since then he has worked three ConocoPhillips-operated unconventional plays in the Lower 48 — Eagle Ford, Bakken and Permian — leading spacing and stacking strategy, large-scale spacing pilots, completion optimization, basin characterization and type curves. He served as Execution Director for Vaca Muerta in 2020–2021, leading the subsurface team and the data room and technical work that delivered the JV sale.

Today he is part of the leadership team for the global reservoir engineering team, supports M&A technical assurance and evaluations, and provides technical advice to other subsurface disciplines. Mentoring and developing engineers has been a constant thread through every stage of his career.
