Alaa Shbair is a Senior Reservoir Engineer with +10 years’ experience in reservoir management and studies. She leads surveillance and studies projects in areas of field development planning, integrated reservoir performance reviews, wells planning and piloting of Under Balanced Drilling, Maximum Contact drilling, Smart Completion and Autonomous Inflow control devices, Water Management Strategy and Machine learning driven Reservoir Surveillance plan automation. She is a pivotal contributor to knowledge sharing, serving as Instructor and assessor for Reservoir Engineering Academies with field-based internship foundation. She is Part of ADNOC Target Leadership Program cohort, contributor in Gender Balance community and internal and external volunteering campaigns. She is a long standing SPE member with more than 10 peer reviewed published papers in SPE and AAPG; Technical committee member of SPE AD section 2024-2025 and SPE water life cycle membership committee section 2025. And awarded as IRM Champion. Alaa holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with honor distinction, Masters in Petroleum Engineering from Khalifa University and Master's in Data Science from UCAMs University with Magna Cum Laude Distinction. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Artificial Intelligence and Technology Management and research and nominated for an attachment at ADNOC AI lab as SME, in addition to offering expertise through SPE and international events.
