Welcome to the Emerging Professionals Forum

The central theme of this year’s EPF asks a transformational question: “How will AI, Machine Learning, and Digital Transformation shape the future of the energy industry?”

Through purposeful dialogue and innovative activities, the Emerging Professionals Forum aims to prepare Kuwait’s future leaders to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital energy landscape—making this edition one of the most exciting and impactful to date.

SPE Young Member Activities - Vision

Since its inception in 2005, the Young Members Activities series has grown rapidly in size, global representation and importance, offering a business platform for experts, researchers and leaders of the oil and gas industry to network, recruit and share technical and industrial information with high school and university students. SPE continues to play an important role in spreading the word and educating students on the latest technologies and give extraordinary examples from major companies within the oil and gas industry.

What is the Emerging Professionals Forum?

The Emerging Professionals Forum at KOGS 2026 serves as a strategic platform connecting the next generation of geoscientists and energy professionals with the leaders shaping the future of Kuwait’s oil and gas sector. As students and early-career professionals transition into their careers, opportunities for direct engagement with senior executives, technical experts, and industry influencers are often limited. The EPF bridges this gap by bringing together senior-year geoscience and engineering students, young professionals from across the energy value chain, and distinguished national and international leaders.

This edition of KOGS places exceptional emphasis on the forum, with conference leadership affirming that it is no less important than the main technical program. The 2026 forum showcases a more diverse, dynamic, and enriching agenda designed to inspire, empower, and activate the next generation of talent.

Participants will experience a vibrant series of activities, including a high-level panel session, TED-style talks, a Toastmasters showcase, mentorship and speed-networking rounds, and an interactive treasure hunt. Each element is crafted to build communication skills, leadership qualities, creativity, and meaningful connections between youth and industry leaders.

Emerging Professionals Nominations

We aim to host up to 50 Emerging Professionals.  Half of the attendees will be senior undergraduate students and half will be young professionals already working in the industry.

Young Professional Nominations

A young professional is in the early stages of their career, already working in the industry, usually a professional member under the age of 36. Young professionals will be nominated to participate by members of the KOGS Enrichment Committee.

Student Nominations

Nominated students should meet all criteria mentioned below. In general, the nominated students should be top-performing students – those who have shown excellence in leadership, participation in extracurricular activities, as well as academic performance. Students in their senior years of study (3rd or final year) tend to benefit more from this type of programme as they are about to enter the professional world. Our aim is to host students who excel in a variety of areas, not solely based on academic grading.

Minimum criteria include:

  • Current SPE student member.
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate programme focused on geosciences and engineering.
  • Part of a qualified SPE Student Chapter from within Kuwait.
  • Be within the top 40% of their class and be able to demonstrate this with documentation.
  • Should be active with extra-curricular activities – for example, should have in the past or currently be involved with the SPE chapter or volunteer with another organization/club within the university (optional).
  • Must be nominated by the university focal point serving in the KOGS Enrichment Committee and the SPE Student Chapter Faculty Advisor.
  • Students should also be aware of current sanction laws which may not allow them to participate in this event. Details of current laws can be found here: https://www.spe.org/en/about/laws/

SPE will contact the SPE Student Chapter Faculty Advisor and Enrichment Committee Member to solicit nominations.
