Panel Session 4: Casing Deformations: The Silent Killer in Multistage Fractured Wells
Casing deformations are known to cause well access and functionality issues in multistage fractured horizontal and vertical wells across many basins. They are the subject of considerable ongoing focus within both the industry and the SPE. While the occurrence of casing deformations can hinder well operations and erode economics, many strategies and technologies for managing their impact have been developed, deployed, and advanced globally. New technologies also continue to emerge.
This 60-minute interactive panel session, hosted by the SPE WITS Casing Deformation Work Group, aims to raise awareness of the nature of this issue, its implications for operations in both primary fracturing and refracturing applications, and the evolving state of understanding and technology. The session will include brief presentations followed by a moderated discussion with panelists who are directly involved in mitigating or recovering from this challenge.
