Closely associated with HeliOffshore since its 2014 inception, Tim assumed the position of CEO in 2020 and leads the organization’s mission and strategy to create an offshore industry sector aligned on key priorities focused on enhancing frontline safety performance.
Prior to joining HeliOffshore full-time, Tim held several leadership positions in Operations, Training, Standards, and Safety throughout a 30-year career with Bristow Group, visiting and working directly with local and global teams across five continents. Graduating from flying training in 1990, he holds an ATPL/IR(H) and has accumulated 8,500 flying hours in offshore, SAR, military support and VIP operations. At the same time, Tim lead the HeliOffshore Operational Effectiveness workstream, focused on topics including Pilot Monitoring, Flightpath Management, Automation Guidance and Evidence-based Training.
Tim has undergraduate degrees in Genetics/Biochemistry and in Psychology, and an MSc in Human Factors and Safety Assessment. He is a vice-chair of the European Helicopter Association, Industry Advisor to the Vertical Aviation Safety Team (VAST), a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a visiting Fellow at Cranfield University and at Aviation Generation (University of East London), a member of the IOGP Safety Committee and actively contributes to a number of aviation industry bodies, including UKRI Future Flight Advisory Group.
