Edwin Verdonk
Edwin Verdonk is Shell’s Executive Vice President Development & Subsurface and Technical Functional Head for Development since April 2019. Over the past 37 years, he has worked in a variety of roles in Shell in Exploration, Upstream Development and Shell’s central Projects and Technology Directorate. His career in Shell started in 1987 when he joined as a seismic interpreter in The Hague, after studying Geology and Geophysics in Utrecht, The Netherlands. He subsequently spent 25 years, mostly in The Netherlands the UK and Indonesia, executing various Growth, Green Field & Brown Field Development, Development Planning, Subsurface Expertise and Technology roles.
In 2012, he was appointed VP Exploration Europe, Russia & CIS. In 2016, he took up the role of VP Development for Deepwater in Houston, a global role overseeing all development projects in Shell’s Deepwater portfolio.
Edwin serves as the Chair of Shell’s Technical Leadership Team (TLT) and is also the Global Community Lead for Project Business Opportunity Managers. Edwin also serves as a member of the HSES Executive Committee of the SPE.
