Amir Gerges
Amir Gerges is a senior international energy executive with nearly three decades of leadership experience across health, safety, environment, business continuity, operations, strategy, and large-scale transformation. As Group Chief Health, Safety & Environment Officer at ADNOC, he serves on the Executive Leadership Committee and leads the Group HSE function, with accountability for crisis management, emergency response, and business continuity across ADNOC’s portfolio. He is driving ADNOC’s ambition to embed world-class, AI-enabled HSE performance and resilience across the enterprise.
Before joining ADNOC in 2024, Amir built a 26-year career with Shell, holding a succession of senior leadership roles across Europe, North America, Asia, and the Middle East. His experience spans upstream operations, global safety leadership, portfolio and strategy, major project delivery, and post-merger integration, including service as Vice President Group Safety, Vice President Permian, Vice President Strategy & Portfolio for Upstream Americas, and Integration Lead for Shell’s acquisition of BG in the Americas. He holds BSc and MSc degrees from the American University in Cairo and is a Fellow of the Energy Institute and a Chartered Petroleum Engineer. Amir also serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Internation Association for Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) and has held board and chair roles with industry bodies including Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA), the Permian Strategic Partnership, and the Permian Road Safety Coalition. Outside work, he enjoys Formula 1, golf, and football, and is married to Marlene with whom he has two children, Luca and Malika.
