Message from the Conference Chair and Technical Programme Chair

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that we announce the SPE Asia Pacific Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition (APOGCE) 2020 will be held virtually from 17 – 19 November 2020.

As a new decade dawns, the oil and gas industry is confronted with increasing geopolitical and economic uncertainty, as well as technological, environmental and social challenges. The LNG market is globalising and becoming increasingly dynamic. With numerous LNG projects now in production and more in the pipeline, competition is both global and fierce. Traditional contractual arrangements are also evolving with buyers demanding increased commercial flexibility, creating additional pressure. On the domestic front, affordability and reliability of energy supply are critical issues to be addressed, while at the same time, public expectations to reduce the carbon intensity of the energy mix have intensified. Adding to this picture, hydrocarbon resources are increasingly remote, difficult and costly to commercialise.

“Business as usual” is simply no longer an option. Meeting the many challenges ahead demands transformation and innovation across the value chain. New resources must be developed, new markets explored, and collaboration stepped up – within the wider industry and across the stakeholder spectrum.

Our conference theme, “Thriving in the New Energy Landscape”, reflects our optimism for a vibrant oil and gas industry which contributes positively to a dynamic, diversifying and decarbonising energy system. The conference offers the opportunity to hear from leading industry figures, influential policy makers and prominent academics, sharing their views on the future of energy and our mandate to shape this future.

The conference will also include ePoster sessions and an Exhibition featuring major companies and service providers showcasing their latest technologies and capabilities. These additional components provide excellent knowledge sharing and networking opportunities.

Thank you in advance for your participation. With the support of our industry colleagues, we are confident the 2020 conference will be a milestone event to mark the start of the new energy decade ahead.

On behalf of the Organising Committees, we look forward to your support and participation.
