New Life for Old Fields: Engineering Strategies for Brazil’s Mature Oil and Gas Fields

Wednesday, 10 June
Louvre IV
Panel
While Brazil is globally recognized for its deep-water pre-salt developments, increasing attention is now being directed toward the revitalization of its mature oil and gas fields. These long-producing assets are entering a new phase, driven by the participation of private and independent operators following recent divestment programs by Brazil’s national oil company. At this stage of their lifecycle, operators face a range of technical and economic challenges, including declining reservoir performance, increasing water cut, bypassed reserves, and aging infrastructure with associated well and facility integrity issues.
This session brings together leading engineering and asset management professionals to discuss innovative strategies for extending the productive life of these mature fields. Topics will include the implementation of operational efficiencies, cost-effective redevelopment approaches, enhanced recovery methods, and the application of digital technologies for production optimization. Panelists will share case studies and lessons learned from both onshore and offshore basins, highlighting how integrated engineering solutions and new technologies can extend field life, improve recovery factors, and unlock additional value from Brazil’s mature assets.
